Kia ora team,
Midwinter already – hard to believe! While the beaches are quieter and the ocean a little chillier, there’s been plenty happening behind the scenes to keep our club humming along.
A big highlight for me in June was our Operational Excellence Workshop – a day dedicated to lifting the standard across everything we do. A huge thank you to our Board and senior guards who gave up their Saturday to contribute so thoughtfully. Your energy and insight have helped shape some important initiatives that will strengthen our culture and standards, plus support our younger members as they come through.
As always, we appreciate everyone who continues to stay involved over the off-season – from SLA and swim training, to the planning already underway for summer. Your commitment keeps the heart of our club beating year-round.

The new SLSNZ membership year has now kicked off
Invoices will be sent shortly to all members from last season. Once your annual membership fee is paid, your membership will automatically roll over into the new season and become active.
It’s a great time to get sorted early and make sure you’re ready for the season ahead.
2025 Trainee Lifeguard Development
SLA Programme — What a Start
We’ve kicked off our first Surf Lifeguard Award (SLA) camp for the season - and it was awesome. Fourteen enthusiastic candidates jumped in, smashed through the first two sections of their workbooks, and are already delivering on those swim times. Legends!
We also ran our first online SLA session, with keen participants tuning in from across the globe (big win on the time zones - even Shanghai joined the party).
Next up, we’re working with Raglan SLSC to plan our away camp. Raglan is pumped to host and combine forces for what’s shaping up to be a fun and memorable joint event.
