This years’ festival has over 50 guided walks from beginner level to full day/overnight adventures and also includes a four peak challenge plus stunning waterfall trails, glow worm walks, gold mining relics and night walks.


A Taste of Matarangi

Matarangi’s own food, wine and music festival by the beach will hold it’s seventh annual event at the village green, presenting a cracking day out for young and old alike and providing a great day of entertainment.

As well as being a community fundraising event supporting local charities the festival features locally brewed beer, wine, mouth-watering food stalls, cook-off competitions, children’s entertainment, auctions and raffles. Come and join us where A Taste of Matarangi has established itself as one of the Peninsula’s most popular event on the calendar.

Long Exposure Masterclass Workshop

Based at Hahei, on the beautiful Coromandel Peninsula, this location offers the perfect place for long exposure photography, wild coastlines, waterfalls and classic jetties.

Join Richard Young and Ken Wright on a four-day long exposure photography workshop showcasing the best of the Coromandels coastal scenery. Long exposure photography requires the use of Neutral Density (ND) filters to enable longer shutter speeds, which can capture the beautiful and often surprising effects of movement in the water and clouds.

Capturing images like this requires good technique. By joining this workshop, you’ll be guided advance use of in ND filters along with HDR techniques, and in the process learn how to take compelling coastal photographs.

The workshop concludes with a processing session and printing a 17x22" fine art print of one of your images using the latest Epson SC-P800 printer. We will also have a number of Benro Long Exposure filters kits along with Nikon cameras & lenses available for shared use during the workshop to help you capture some stunning coastal photographs.

Ice Skate Tour - Pauanui

Be prepared for a cool but not cold ice skating experience.

The Ice Skate Tour travels around New Zealand with state of the art, artificial ice rinks. They look like ice and have 97% same gliding capacity as natural ice. Surrounded by an inflatable boarding and helmets + gloves provided at no charge (both compulsory for kids) it’s the safest possible way to try ice skating.

Prices are $8 for kids under 16, $12 for adults and $35 for a family (2 kids + 2 adults or 3 kids + 12 adult) which includes ice skates, helmet, gloves and at least half an hour ice skating (longer if capacity allows).
